Washington — Winston Media Concepts top consultant joined the 2016 DC African American Affairs Grant Review board in 2016. The grants are directed at providing funding to African and African-facing organizations that serve Washington DC residents.
“I saw it as an opportunity to provide support for two things that I love–Washingtonians and the wider African community.” Winston said, “As a professional I feel there is a duty to give back–it’s a very African notion: I am because we are.”
Winston has been giving back to the region since WMC made the move in 2014. Her passion to serve the general community has grown into one that hopes to serve native Washingtonians with a rich history in the District as well as connect with Africans in the Diaspora and on the Continent.
“In 2016, a visit to Ghana really confirmed for me how important it was to create touch points with the various communities I belong to . . . ” Winston concluded, “Whether it’s DC or the wider community of Africans in the Diaspora–including African Americans like myself or on the continent. I feel there is an imperative to make this world better for those who come after you.”
“It’s been a real honor to serve this city and my community.” Winston said.
